Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois, and have stayed in the Midwest my whole life. I studied English in college, and I still really love books. After college, I worked in publishing for 12 years as an editor. Thus - or maybe it's the other way around? - I am a stickler for proper grammar and punctuation. I am also an excellent speller, my primary language is sarcasm, I get a major haircut at least twice a year, I love to learn and am always taking classes, and I DIY whatever I can and many things I shouldn't.
I love: dance, knitting, burgers, cats, romantic comedies, tea, camping, making new friends, and my leather jacket.
I don't love: coffee, fish, running, cleaning, spiders, or bad grammar.
I have a 4-year-old daughter who prefers to sing things rather than speak them, two crazy cats, a husband who puts all other husbands to shame, and a job that allows me to be sociable and creative. All in all, life is pretty good.
My photography journey started the way it does for most people: taking pictures of my kid. However, over time, it turned into much, much more. Now, I create art and record other people's precious memories, and every time someone hires me, I feel honored to be allowed into their life and their family. I consider my clients as my friends, and I hope they feel the same way.
While I love pretty pictures as much as the next girl, the thing that really gets me going is storytelling. My favorite photos are always the ones that give me an emotional reaction, whether it be laughter, joy, sadness, or something else, and that is what I strive for in every session I take on. I strongly believe that every family has a story to tell, and it is my joy and privilege to be able to tell it.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to meet you.
